A member asked:

Can taking adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) for long periods of time cause permanent damage or adverse effects?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: While there are risks with any medicine, there has not been any indication that long term (appropriate) use of stimulants causes cumulative or long term damage. Some children, as they get older, are able to stop their stimulants, but many go in to take them into adulthood.
