Not age or stress : Very heavy menses with clots are usually caused by fibroids or polyps which grow in the uterus, irritating it and causing thickening of the lining that is shed each month. An ultrasound would help to assess this. Adenomyosis which is similar to endometriosis can also cause this as well as severe cramping. Rarely, women can have bleeding disorders like von willebrands. See your obgyn.
