Carb crash: Carbohydrates are great for quick energy, but are metabolized quickly. Especially simple carbohydrates like sugar may leave you tired and sleepy within 1-2 hours. Try consuming more protein. You should take a good multivitamin with iron and about 3000 mg of fish oil which may help maintain mental alertness. Also avoid caffeine which only lasts 3-5 hours and then leads to a crash.

ATP deficiency: This picture is quite consistent with acquired mitochondrial dysfunction leading to a deficiency of ATP resulting in a lack of energy for multiple cellular processes. Mitochondria are very susceptible to the toxic effects of a host of environmental toxins like chemicals, heavy metals and biotoxins like indoor mold. Toxins cause mitochondrial cell danger response (Naviaux 2014).
