Not hereditary: So sorry your dad has alzheimer's. There is no proof that it is hereditary, this is one of the reasons that it is so difficult to find an effective drug to treat it. It could be that you are overly identified with your father's suffering. Make sure that you take care of yourself. It's important that you get support. Best wishes.

Alzheimers: This illness does have a genetic base, consult with a neurologist your primary care doctor recommends just to be safe. Best wishes.

Depends: If your dad developed alzheimer's in his early 40's you may have something to be concerned about. If you are truly concerned see your primary care for an evaluation. Alzheimer's is very unlikely at your age and many other problems are far more likely.
