Syncope: Yes it is possible. The more vigorous or prolonged continuous cough are the more likely to cause the fainting or lightheadedness. This is due to an exaggerated physiological response to the increase intrathoracic pressure and the effect of the valsalva upon the pulmonary arteries and veins.
