Will a 6weeks old baby catch chicken pox and how dangerous is it?

Depends: If the infant's mom has had chickenpox or has been immunized, the infant should be protected by her antibodies.

Variable: Maternal antibodies usually protect babies under 4 months, but if mom never had it baby can get the disease. It tends to be mild at that age and there are medications that the doc can prescribe that will decrease the intensity if started early. Infants with immune deficiencies can have a very worrisome case requiring hospital care.
