About once a month, i get flashes of light. is that ok or bad?

Hard to say: This depends a lot on your age, and if you have any other medical problems or not. Sometimes eye conditions can cause flashes of light, and other times it can be part of a neurologic condition, like migraines, or vascular problem related to blood flow to the eyes. I would start by seeing my regular doctor or eye doctor and discuss this with them.
