Pores/ingrown hair: One of the most common causes of ingrown hairs is too close shaving - especially in hairs that normallly curl try to avoid the triple and quad razors that cut the hair off below the skin line. A fine pair of tweezers can help remove ingrown hairs - and a good antibacterial scrub should help exfoliate and prevent infected pores.

Retinol: In addition to dr williams's recommendation to avoid shaving too closely, i typically add a retinol (otc) or prescription tretinoin to the regimen. This class of medication causes peeling, and helps the ingrowns hairs to surface.
