Infection: Normally a swelling in the face is from a tooth/teeth that are infected. This infection can be from the gums or teeth themselves. If the gums are causing the swelling a proper cleaning will help with the infection. If the teeth are causing your swelling a root canal will be done or an extraction to stop the swelling. Best to see your dentist and find out first.
