A member asked:

How common is it for someone to need an ostomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not uncommon: It isn't terribly uncommon, as used with a variety of bowel illnesses/injuries. It is frequently and interval solution during healing or other treatments until it is possible to rejoin the bowel. On most cases it is temporary, but in certain cases it can be long term or permanent.
