Depends on pain: If it is related to peripheral pain, then Aspirin and or Ibuprofen ( as long as there are no allergies) are a great choice. Sometimes applying alternating heat and cold to the area can assist with discomfort as well. To rule out any infection, you should visit with an ent, or family practicioner.
