Can be...or not: Many patients have recovered from the disorder; or have adapted to it, living a reasonably normal life. However, it can be a difficult condition to treat, on a psychological and physiological basis. Relapses are not rare. Medications seem to work better in bulimia than in anorexia nervosa. Patients need close interaction between therapist/physician/dietician/family.

Yes, with difficulty: Generally, treatment is best done by a psychiatrist/psychologist who is part of an eating disorders treatment program as treatment needs to be multi-modal and is difficult.
