Many reasons: Could just be a swollen joint, ligament tear, stress fracture, fracture, etc. Swollen finger could have many reasons, but if it's concerning with pain or function (unable to grab or lift) after 1-2 weeks, definitely make an appointment with your hand specialist. Best of luck.
