Yes: Sodium hypochlorite is a staple in root canal therapy. Many of its properties assist in the disinfection of the root canal space. It is important however that the dentist maintain complete control of the environment (isolation) with a "rubber dam" thus preventing the bleach from going into the patient's mouth. Careful technique will provide patient with maximum safety.

You betcha: Sodium hypochlorite is the most widely used cleansing solution during root canal therapy. It is critical that safety measures (a rubber dam) are used to keep it out of your mouth or from going past the end of your tooth.
