Lowers hormones: High levels of prolactin suppresses the hormones combing from the hypothalamus of the brain and pituitary gland that control the testis and ovary. This is in turn lowers the amount of sex hormones that are produced (estrogen and testosterone). In some people, these lower levels reduce sex drive.
