Poor oxygenation: Poor oxygenation is the commonest medical cause for blue lips and it is a medical emergency. See your doctor as multiple diseases can cause it ranging from congenital heart and lung issues to smokers lungs. Extremecold or certain conditions like cold aggltinins can cause blue lips. Other causes include dyes in medications and food products which can stain lips and tongue.
