What medicine?: Both anxiety and some medicines for anxiety can cause weight gain. The latter include Risperidone and other atypical antipsychotics. And some other medicines like amitriptyline, valproate, Clonazepam and Ativan (lorazepam) can cause weight gain too. The best treatment for anxiety is psychological therapy such as cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy.
