A member asked:

E.coli in urine culture. whats this? is this serious issue if not treated? is it std or infection? and how it can be treated?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

E. coli: E. Coli normally reside in the bowel, but not in the bladder or urine. It is not an std, but in sufficient numbers can cause a urinary tract infection, which usually can be readily treated with antibiotics. If a urinary tract infection is not treated, it can lead to more serious complications such as a kidney infection.
