Age or other causes: As women get older they can have a change in their premenstrual and menstrual symptoms. At age 46 it is not unusual to be in peri-menopause which is the stage before menopause (the point your cycle stops). However conditions in the body like thyroid disease can cause similar symptoms and changes. So if this is significantly unusual or bothersome then you can set an appointment to see your doctor.
