4-8 weeks: A little bit depends on if you stopped from full feedings cold turkey to nothing or gradually weaned the breast feedings. You can ovulate while still breast feeding, and many a mom has become pregnant while still nursing without even having a period (my second child, a wonderful young man and new dad, is such a child!). But hormones usually get back on track within a couple of months of weaning.
