A member asked:

How was the causation of cervical cancer by hpv proven?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Multiple Studies: Here is an early article from 1985: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2994541 Basically, the link rests on: (1) always finding HPV infection in cervical cancer tumors, and (2) experimentally inducing cervical cancer in lab animals with HPV or similar viruses. The fact that HPV immunization reduces risk of cervical cancer by about a factor of 20 is additional evidence of the connection.
