Acupuncture: Acupuncture can be very useful for many patients. It is not universally effective for all types/sources of pain or for all patients. Even in china where patients are accepting of acupuncture and where there are many experts western pain management medicines and procedures are regularly used. For patients who have chronic pain acupuncture is worth a try because of the side effects of pain meds.

Can be very good: Acupuncture is highly effective for many pain conditions but ineffective for others. It is used throughout asia and europe. The United States appears to slow in accepting it. It is being fully embraced my the army, navy & air force with more & more military physicians being trained in medical acupuncture every year.
