Not sure: I have never used that combination....Preventing infection may be hard to do, but the immune system works best if you eat a balanced diet, sleep well, and exercise. Treating an infection , may require anantibiotic or other remedy. I can't think of any where moldy bread and honey would work.

Ancient medicine: Ancient Egyptians were aware that bread mold had some activity against infection, probably because some of the molds produce penicillin. Honey is supposed to contain some antibacterials as well. Nowadays we have far stronger stuff if you're seriously sick.

Avoid moldy bread: Honey has therapeutic effect on coughing but would not prevent infection. I would strongly advise against eating moldy bread since it may contain sufficient amount of mycotoxins (only 1 species of Penicillium mold produces Penicillin, the rest do not) and indicates the presence of spoilage in the bread. On the other hand, eating moldy bread may not make you ill but why the risk?

Infection treatment : No. Throw the bread away and enjoy you tea with honey. If an infection needs treated leave it to a physician. Luckily for these charlatans most infections resolve with time and the body's normal immune function.
