Cause unknown: Rosacea ('acne rosacea") is a fairly common inflammatory skin disorder that typically involves the forehead, cheeks, chin and nose. Patients tend to develop redness associated with swelling, dilated capillaries (telangiectasia) and acne-like pimples. There can be associated warmth, itching, or a burning sensation. The cause is unknown but may be a genetic trait.

Rosacea causes: Patients with rosacea also had greatly elevated levels of enzymes called stratum corneum tryptic enzymes (scte). These enzymes turned the precursor into the disease-causing peptide. By injecting mice with the cathelicidin peptides found in rosacea, or adding scte, they increased inflammation in the mouse skin, thus proving that these abnormalities can cause the disease.

Many theories: Many theories means that there is no known cause for rosacea. Any believe that rosacea may be a vascular disorder because of its association with flushing, redness and visible blood vessels. Some physicians have also speculated that flushing may involve the nervous system, since rosacea is often triggered or aggravated when patients are under emotional stress.

Acne Rosacea: Acne Rosacea or Rosacea isn't actually acne. It is a chronic skin condition that can affect the cheeks, nose, chin & forehead & usually begins in adulthood. The skin can become red with a bumpy texture, small red blood vessels may appear with oiliness and at times the nose can become bulbous (like W.C. Fields).
