Check for other prob: A doc's role is usually to make sure other possible contributors aren't contributing to the problem. (eg sleep disorder, learning problem, vision/hearing problem, depression/anxiety, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder) internet search for 'vanderbilt rating scale' or adhd rating scale and you'll see questions that help sort out what areas of challenge are present meds can help!

Harder Than U Think: Quizzes don't cut it. Diagnosing adhd requires assessing symptoms & their history and ruling out other disorders. U see adhd behavioral symptoms overlap widely w/those of other disorders -e.g., anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, etc. Also, someone may be diagnosed wadhd & other disorder(s). See psychiatrist or clinical psychologist 4 good assessment. We spend yrs training 4 this.
