Motrin VS Tylenol (acetaminophen): Both are excellent anti fever medications, sometimes Ibuprofen ( motrin) works better on pain ( ear pain, sprains) than tylenol (acetaminophen). Tylenol is shorter acting ( 4-6 hrs) and Ibuprofen is longer acting 6-8 hours. I tend to use tylenol (acetaminophen) during the day and Ibuprofen in the night.

Don't "need" either: Fever is just a symptom - you don't "need" to take anything for it. The higher body temperature actually helps your immune system fight off the germs causing your illness. So if you want to take something to make you "feel better", then the better one is the one that makes you feel better. But you don't have to take anything. Push fluids, rest and track your symptoms to see if anything else needed.
