Dr. Michael Miller answered

Specializes in Wound care

Simple treatment: Diabetes causes nerve injury. This means loss of sensation below the ankles.Foot deformity may occur. Poor sensation means injuries and problems advance before they are found and get worse quickly.Treatments include sugar control, keep the ulcer surface healthy and clean with debridements, moist wound dressings and absolutely keeping the ulcer away from any pressure. No antibiotics unless infected.
