It is common: Acid reflux is caused by a weak muscle/sphincter at the junction of esophagus and stomach. As a result acid which is made in the stomach mover up and down the esophagus casuing inflammation of the esophagus as this lining is not used to the acidic environment. But there is good treatment for this condition...Medicines that can stop acid production are very useful to relieve these symptoms.
