Can cause heartburn: Acid reflux or heartburn results from the reflux of acid from the stomach up into the esophagus. The esophagus is not built to withstand this acid and the burning is painful (esophagus behind the heart so "heartburn"). Anything that increases reflux will worsen condition. So, if you overload the stomach with anything, it may worsen reflux. Sometimes valve to stop reflux doesn't work well also.
