Benzoyl peroxide: This is the best topical agent for acne during pregnancy. None of the "pop" remedies will help. Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Some creams may help: First one has to outgrow acne, and until such time, can only control it. Many otc meds used to be prescription, and would try them first-benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acids would use a wash of one, cream with another, and consider using a clarisonic brush to help clean do not scrub as will worsen acne. If these not work see a dermatologist to coordinate.

Tea tree oil: A topical application of tea tree oil 5% may be as effective as topical benzoyl peroxide 5% (though its effects came on more slowly) but without the excessive drying of the benzoyl peroxide. The mechanism of action of tea tree oil has not been determined, but it appears to be broadly antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant.

No: These folk remedies are at best adjuncts. Get some topical benzoyl peroxide or a salicylic acid wash from the pharmacy. If this hasn't cleared you in two weeks, get with your personal physician. Acne is a serious chronic disease that's a major personal and professional liability. You owe it to yourself to do the right thing.

They don't work: The over-the-counter product that works best is benzoyl peroxide. None of the home remedies you'll find online (lemon juice, sleeping with your face smeared with honey) will work, and i suspect some of them are cruel pranks on folks with an already-cruel disease. And no rx of any kind words very fast. Please get with a scientific physician. He/she can help.

Nothing reliable: "pop" remedies are at best adjuncts to scientific treatment. Tea tree oil may help but has given teenaged boys breasts. If topical benzoyl peroxide has failed, a physician's office visit is in order. Acne is a serious, chronic disease that can do grave physical and emotional damage. Don't let your reluctance to use 21st century medicine cause you to neglect the health of a teen. Best wishes.
