YEs: Depends on the reason for the liver failure. If it is for alcohol, then probably not as most transplants require that the person be alcohol and drug free for at least six months. It can work for accidental intoxication of tylenol (acetaminophen) or mushrooms. It can also work if someone has had a compromised liver and suddenly gets worse. Best of luck.

Maybe: It would depend on the cause, but most cases of acute liver failure are infectious, and self limited, so ii doubt the patient would be a candidate. Check with a liver transplant program to find out more.
