It varies: Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is pretty powerful for suppression of the ovaries and it may take up to six months to return to normal ovulation function. Breast tenderness may indicate that the ovaries are once again producing enough estrogen to affect the body. Breast tenderness can indicate an estrogen effect on the breast.
