A member asked:

I have what seems to be a bad tooth pain, but it extends towards my ear and my cheek bone, what could it be?

Tooth: If it feels like a tooth then it probably is a tooth. Another reason could be due to the TMJ on that side. Either way a dental evaluation of your symptoms should be done.

Could be...: 1. Infected tooth with referred pain toward surrounding tissues 2. Gum infection with referred pain toward surrounding tissues 3. Tmj dysplasia with referred pain to tooth 4. Cardiac distress please see your dentist asap. None of these scenarios are self-correcting and will only get worse with time.

Many things: It could be many things, and merely giving you a list of the possibilities won't really help you. You should see your dentist to determine what is causing the pain and what treatment is appropriate. It would be amazing if we could diagnose you and then treat your over the internet, wouldn't it? We haven’t gotten there yet and i wouldn't hold my breath for that.

See a dentist ASAP: A tooth abscess won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head and neck. A dental abscess is a collection of pus that forms in your teeth or gums as a result of a bacterial infection. See your dentist ASAP.

Tooth vs TMJ: Could be tooth related, TMJ or other causes. Start with your dentist. You may need a referral to an oral surgeon.
