Yes: You should see your dentist right away. This abscess can spread to sinuses and even other areas of the head/brain.

It Sounds Like It.: If you are feeling a pus pocket in the roof of your mouth, it usually means there is an abscess in the lingual/palatal root of an upper tooth. You want to see your dentist or endodontist (root canal specialist) to examine, diagnose and treat your abscess. Sometimes, the abscesses may travel into the fascial space (between bone and muscle) and end up requiring hospitalization and be dangerous.

Most likely: Those two symptoms in combination usually mean an abscess has formed and progressed significantly. You would be wise to seek the evaluation of a dentist, or endodontist (root canal specialist). If necessary, a root canal can be performed to save your tooth or it can be extracted.

See below: See your dentist immediately to drain and treat the area. If the tooth is able to be saved, treatment is needed immediately and if the tooth is not able to be saved, have a treatment plan for its replacement.

Probably: Infected tooth requires immediate treatment or removal/replacement. Do not delay, infection should not be ignored. It will not self heal, only spread. Abscess cannot be cured by pills alone, see your Dentist immediately.
