Depends: Stitches are of two types gut, which self dissolves and is usually clear in color or yellowish and silk, which is usually black. If threads are black, you may wish to revisit the nurse to make sure all remnants were removed.

Stich: At times there may be absorbable sutures (stitches) placed under the skin along with sutures placed on the outside that are typically removed. In any case, see your surgeon to evaluate the area to ensure the wound is healing properly and that all non absorbable sutures have been removed.
