Should fast overnigh: Please follow the instructions from the imaging center or hospital exactly as written. Being properly prepared will increase the likelihood of an technically excellent exam. Imaging of the gallbladder is better with a short (usually overnight, at least 8 and no more than 24 hours) fast. Usually drinking water is encouraged to stay hydrated which may improve kidney images.
