Yes: You should not stare at the sun. It can cause damage to your macula over time.

Possible: Looking directly at the sun can damage your eyes and it takes only seconds to do so. Be careful when looking directly at the sun. By the way if you are using a digital camera, you can look at the sun on the screen on the camera. This risk in in this case is to your camera, not your eyes.
