Irregular bleeding : It is acceptable to take emergency contraception more that once in a month. Some irregular bleeding might occur. I think it is important you reevaluate your birth control plan though. It sounds like you need to start a long term birth control method instead of using emergency birth control.

Side effects: Although this will not effect long-term fertility, repeated use can increase risk for side effects. Potential side effects w emergency contraception includes menstrual flow changes (spotting, bleeding, early or late period), nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, headache, breast tenderness & abdominal pain or cramps. Take pregnancy test & notify dr if your period is 7 or > days late.
