HPV: In the majority of people with hpv, the virus is dormant. You will be retested at your next exam. If the hpv is still active, appropriate follow up will be scheduled. If the hpv has gone back to being dormant, you will still need follow up, but not as often.

Regular follow-up: This is not something you can do anything about.You at least are aware you have more risk of cervical cancer than the general population (a good motivator).It can take years/decades for that to happen if it ever does. In the mean time you have surveillance pap smears to detect any changes early when they can be treated/cured.Women have been going for pap's long before we had an idea of why,you do.
