Blood test preferred: In setting of a true exposure, regardless of protection used (helps) and regardless of 5 negative oraquick tests, a blood antibody test for HIV is recommended at this stage to put the issue to rest.

Rarely, it can take up to 6 months to develop antibody. If there's concern about acute hiv, a test that measures HIV RNA viral load can be done.
