Pretty good idea.: Taking "vacations" from stimulant medications decreases the need to take higher doses later.

Depends on variables: I like to keep my patients on it for school and off for weekends, holidays and the summer. It is what some refer to as a situational medication.It is needed for periods when better attention and focus are needed but not during periods of relaxation. Being off it for periods does not diminish the effectiveness of the medication like it might with some others.
