A member asked:

I sometimes get an ice-pick like pain in my right eye and have trouble seeing straight ahead when that happens?

Sounds troubling: Sudden loss of vision caused by blood vessel occlusions, called amaurosis fugax, is a serious issue, and can presage a stroke. Sharp eye pain can also be part of cluster and migraine headaches, or could be a neuralgia of teh vth cranial nerve called tic doloreux. You need to visit a neurologist asap to distinguish these!

Ophthalmodynia fugax: Although your symptoms are highly suggestive of a benign condition called ophthalmodynia fugax, you should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist.
