Stretch/core: Best means to control long term back pain is to keep the weight off and keep your core strong. Focus on abdominal strengthening and low back stretches/strengthening. Occasional antinflam probably doesn't hurt when things get more flared up. If you have any radiating pain or weakness to your legs you may have a bigger problem than just a sprain and would advise ortho referral.
