Can i take eltroxin while breasfeeding?

Yes: There is no data to indicate eltroxin (levothyroxine) has a negative effect on breastfeeding infants of mothers who take it. If a doctor has prescribed levothyroxine to you, this is not a reason to stop breastfeeding. Thyrpoid meds are definitely safe in pregnancy or lactation, as keeping your thyroid controlled helps to control your childs.

Absolutely: Continue to take your eltroxin (levothyroxine). The medication will be secreted into your breast milk and may be sufficient enough to disguise hypothyroidism in the breast fed infant. Make sure your state hospital newborn screen is done and if necessary repeated.
