Not necessary: You have experienced an occipital (some say visual or optical) migraine attack. These are benign, last 2 minutes to 2 hours and do not cause any harm except the blocked vision during the attack. If you cover one eye and then the other, if you have another attack, you will see the same pattern in each eye. This is not from the bcps which you can continue.

Stop it now: You just had what it seems like a migraine aura. You are therefore at risk for cerebrovascular complications of your bcp. Your gynecologist can help you find another form of birth control.
