Talk to his MD: Incarcerated umbilical hernia can be painful and protrude- and should be promptly operated on. If there is an infection like and abscess it could be drained. Changing antibiotics may indicate they have identified a bacteria and sensitivities. Less commonly, urachal cysts or omphalo mesenteric cysts can be infected. Ask.
