Yes: There are other ways of dealing with menstrual irregularities besides the birth control pill. Other hormones can be used. Sometimes, if the pelvic exam is normal, a sonogram or hysteroscopy (looking inside the uterus) is indicated if you do not respond as predicted, to be sure that something is not present in the uterus causing the problem.
