A member asked:

If they have a gastric ulcer or one in the duodenum, can they have pernicious anemia due to the stomach of duodenum being destroyed somewhere?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly.: Pa is associated with antibodies that attack cells in the stomach. Besides interfering with B12 absorption, the stomach can develop atrophic gastritis, an inflammation of the stomach that results in the loss of all glandular tissue and scarring of the stomach. But ulcers are not a sign of this, and definitely not duodenal ulcers. The B12 problems come first, other stomach issues later.
