Can we control the spread of measles?

Vaccinate: Since the virus can be spread by infected kids/adults before they become symptomatic, immunization is the most effective way to build a wall of protected people around the sporadic cases. That stops the spread.

Vaccination: Since the virus can spread from infected patients before they become physically ill, the only sure method of prevention or control is vaccination.Outbreaks this year in Houston and Ohio have been traced to imported cases (air travel) and spread to secondary contacts who were not vaccinated or had received only one dose.
