Yes, but...: You will be protected from pregnancy during the 7 day break in the contraceptive pills, but there is data showing some cysts and hormone production is initiated b/c of the 7-day pill-free interval, and the newer pills have a shortened pill-free interval, and those pills report having decreased rates of ovarian cyst formation, and possibly decreased failure rates of the pill.
